GREETINGS ALL,
BABY MIRIAM
Early in June, I sent out an email to all the friends of The Village highlighting the plight of Baby Miriam who requires eye surgery due to cataract formation, following malnutrition in infancy. It was holiday time and the World Cup was on the go and I wasn’t sure of what the response would be, but we felt that we needed to go this route as we could not afford the surgery on the current Village funds.
I realise now that my concerns were futile as within a month, we had received, in our bank account, an amount that far exceeded what we require. We are so blessed and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed. We must be doing something right for the Lord to bless us in this way.
The additional funds will be set aside for ongoing care that Miriam will require in the form of glasses and follow up consultations.
One eye will be corrected at a time, with the first surgery taking place on 20 August 2010. We will keep you updated and we ask for your ongoing prayers for Miriam.
Thank you so much from Mike, Susan, Shirley and all the children.
WORLD CUP 2010
Through the food collected from One World Catering during the World Cup, The Village were able to feed 800 extra children in Alexandra and central JHB on a daily basis. This is an amazing amount and we extend grateful thanks to One World Hospitality for their generosity.
